Democrats led the fight for Medicare and Medicaid in the l960s, and more recently enacted a comprehensive health care system that will cover almost every American. It is unacceptable for Americans to die prematurely or live lives filled with pain and disease simply because they lack the money to afford decent health care.
Our previous and present health care system is by far the most expensive on the planet, yet we do not have the best health. Democrats will move forward with a “public option” to provide an alternative to private health insurance with their denial of care and over-paid CEOs. We need to copy the plans that work in other countries, and find a way to cut costs. Democrats understand that health care is one of the services (like police, fire, schools, highways,) that government can deliver at much lower cost and with better performance, than private systems.
